EPDM rubber (ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber) is an elastomer which is characterized by wide range of applications. The diene(s) currently used in the manufacture of EPDM rubbers are DCPD (dicyclopentadiene), ENB (ethylidene norbornene) and VNB (vinyl norbornene).

EPDM rubber is used in vibrators and seals; glass-run channel; radiator, garden and appliance hose; tubing; washers; belts; and electrical insulation. It is also used as a medium for water resistance in high-voltage polymeric cable jointing installations, roofing membrane, geomembranes, rubber mechanical goods, plastic impact modification, thermoplastic, vulcanizates, as a motor oil additive, pond liner, electrical cable-jointing and chainmail applications.

EPDM exhibits satisfactory compatibility with fireproof hydraulic fluids, ketones, hot and cold water, and alkalis, and unsatisfactory compatibility with most oils, gasoline, kerosene, aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons, halogenated solvents, and concentrated acids.

Typical properties of EPDM vulcanisates is given below. EPDM can be compounded to meet specific properties to a limit depending first on the EPDM polymers available, then the processing and curing method(s) employed. EPDMs are available in a range of molecular weights (indicated in terms of Mooney viscosity ML(1+4)@125°C), varying levels of ethylene, third monomer and oil content.

Common Application

EPDM rubber is commonly used in weatherseals on all vehicles. This includes door seals, window seals, trunk seals, and sometimes hood seals. Frequently these seals are the source of noise due to movement of the door versus the car body. This is due to friction between the EPDM rubber and the mating surface (car painted sheet metal or glass). This can be alleviated using specialty coatings that are applied at the time of manufacture of the weatherseal, not as an aftermarket application. Such coatings can also greatly increase the chemical resistance of EPDM rubber.

EPDM or Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer as it is chemical called (liquid roof), is available only in white; however you can color it by adding no more than 3 oz. per gallon of a non oil-based "Universal Colorant" which will product a pastel color. Colorant is available at local paint stores. Liquid Rubber the commercial product is available in White or Black. Liquid EPDM applied over generally sound single ply EPDM can extend its life another 20 years. The "Do-it-yourselfSolution"save thousands on normal roof installations. . Fix Roof Leaks, Seal and Protect Surfaces. One Coat Application. Great on existing EPDM rubber roofs. No Primer or Top Coat needed; easy application! Cures only above 55 degrees. Roofs Repair and Leaks Repair is often made after the damage has been done; however, if you keep up on routine roofs maintenance you can avoid Roof Leaks and unnecessary damage altogether 65% of roofs replacements are performed because of roof leaks. Leak repair is a top priority among building owners and managers. Break the roofs repair cycle with liquid EPDM coatings. Liquid rubber coatings also formulated custom EPDM COATINGS and EPDM RUBBER for your specific commercial and industrial needs. Liquid Roof and Liquid Rubber are liquid EPDM products for leak repair which form a membrane of 100% pure EPDM rubber when cured. This Rubber Coating is specially formulated for roofs repair and leaks repair. EPDM rubber coatings can be widely use for commercial purpose and For RV Roof Repair
